An aerospace, defense, and national security solution provider required a Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) cycling test system to test and qualify their highly sensitive components that will be subjected to the extreme cold of space.

LACO’s team of engineers configured a custom thermal vacuum solution based on our standard FST2020 platform. Utilizing a direct LN2 source we delivered an effective and cost-efficient two zone thermal solution. This unique solution has a temperature rating of -150 °C which meets the thermal requirements outlined by the customer.

  • System Platform: Cube style configuration with stainless steel chamber, 6-inch glass viewport, and internal LED lighting
  • Process Controller: Programmable test recipes and data logging for vacuum, pressure, and temperature via HVC-3500 process controller
  • System Enclosure: Fully integrated and enclosed system mounted on ruggedized mobile cart
  • Thermal Supply: Direct liquid nitrogen (LN2) to shroud and platen
  • Shroud: Pillow-plated shroud covering internal sidewalls and top of chamber
  • Platen: 19” W x 19” L with thermal channeling and mounting points laid out on a 2” grid
  • Pump Package: Dry scroll pump and high-vacuum turbo pump

LIR Bake-Out Controller System

The Frontier TVAC LACO Infrared (LIR) Bake-out Controller System gives you control of your vacuum chamber bake-out process. This system controls the power to the heat source and uses thermocouple feedback to regulate the temperature of the vacuum chamber. The heaters are small, high power quartz lamps that operate inside of the vacuum chamber. These heaters harness the radiant heat emitted by the IR lamps, enabling them to swiftly achieve surface bake-out temperatures compared to alternative surface heating methods.

LRS Cellular Remote Support Kit

The TITAN VERSA helium leak detector package is a proven solution using cutting-edge technology designed for leak detection of your TVAC systems. With its high sensitivity, the system can detect helium leak rates as low as 5×10-12 atm-cc/sec. Equipped with an internal dry membrane vacuum pump the TITAN VERSA achieves 2.5 L/sec helium pumping speed.
