Custom Solution | Helium Hard Vacuum System for Refrigeration Assemblies

SKU:

X-1P30021

An aerospace equipment manufacturer required a Hard Vacuum System for Refrigeration Assemblies that could test multiple product models using several leak test methods. The process needed to include nitrogen proof testing and gross leak testing before completing high-sensitivity helium hard vacuum testing. In addition, the customer required automated control of test sequences, leak limits, and pressure levels.

To meet these requirements, we engineered a turnkey leak test system that integrates all test stages into a single automated workflow. The system uses a large 48″ DIA X 86″ L horizontal vacuum chamber that encloses the assembly on sliding rails and seals against a precision-machined bulkhead. A high-pressure booster increases nitrogen pressure for proof testing, while custom controller software manages test recipes and acceptance criteria. As a result, the system delivers repeatable results across multiple refrigeration assemblies with controlled cycle times and reliable data capture.

  • Leak test chamber is a 48″ DIA X 86″ L belt-driven actuating horizontal chamber operating on sliding rails to enclose the part shelf and seal to the bulkhead door
  • Custom bulkhead is machine-polished to ensure proper sealing and equipped with multiple custom ports and feedthroughs
  • Safety measures include a chamber enclosure fence during chamber actuation, actuation stops if light curtain barrier is breached
  • High pressure booster for nitrogen proof test of the refrigerant circuit increases the pressure from 80 psig to 625 psig
  • Custom system controller with PC interface, including ethernet connection to customer’s network
