Transparent Vacuum Traps
Description
LACO's clear vacuum traps feature a transparent polypropylene sump for easy identification of contaminates. Each trap contains a replaceable insert that traps foreign particles and vapors, keeping them from getting where they shouldn't be. Corrosive chemicals are trapped before they can damage the pump. Different type elements will trap particles, water vapors, oil vapors and reduce oil backstreaming. Replaceable trap elements are interchangeable within the same size housing.
Choose from several element types listed below. Traps are recommended to be installed so contaminants will collect on the outside of the element. This is done by facing the IN towards the process and the OUT towards the vacuum pump. Transparent vacuum traps are all rated for full vacuum service to 29 inHg or 10^-3 torr. Vacuum traps can also be used without any element as a knockout sump for trapping bulk liquids and oil.
The 4.5" tall clear sump traps include inline 1/2" female NPT connections and are recommended for vacuum pumps with approximately 5 cfm. The 9.5" tall clear sump traps include 3/4" female inline connections and are recommended for vacuum pumps up to 15 cfm . All traps are also available with NW, KF or QF vacuum flange connections installed on the trap and helium leak tested.
To add NW 25 flange connections installed to the trap add a "-NW25" to the end of the part number. Example: MV300200-NW25 - Add $55 to the standard price.
To add NW 40 flange connections installed to the trap add a "-NW40" to the end of the part number. Example: MV300200-NW40 - Add $70 to the standard price.
For trapping large amounts of water vapor, solvents or condensible vapors we recommend you consider our dry
ice traps or liquid
nitrogen traps.

Features
Several interchangeable inserts are available. Choose from the following:
Copper gauze: Large surface area traps condensable particles and oil vapors
Stainless steel gauze: Same as copper, but with added corrosion protection
Molecular sieve: Reduces mechanical pump backstreaming and traps water vapor
Sodasorb®: Minimizes migration of corrosive chemicals and neutralizes acidic vapors
Activated charcoal: Removes organic vapors
Activated alumina: Removes Lewis acids, polar compounds, other acids, water and particles
PolyPro 2 micron: Traps high volumes of solids and particulates as small as 2 microns; available in three sizes
PolyPro 5 micron: Same as above
PolyPro 20 micron: Same as above

Specifations and Ranges
Traps are available with 4.5" clear sumps and 1/2" NPT connections for flows up to 5 cfm and with 9.5" clear sumps with 3/4" connections for flows up to 15 cfm. Terminations are available in NW25, NW40 or 3/4" Hose Barb (Installed and helium leak tested if ordered with the trap). Also, upon request traps can be configured for right angle mounting so trap sits on side of vacuum pump. Diameter is 5.5" and the overall height is 7.5" with small sump and 12.5" for the large sump.
